Meet, Share, Learn.

Thanks to our fantastic speakers, Thoughtworks and all who attended. Melbourne RORO was incredible last night!

Some notable events in the ruby/rails world since last meet up.

  • ruby kagi was awesome
  • that f**king jruby thread
  • jruby guys going to engineyard
  • engineyard picked up 1.86 support
  • Rails 2.3.3 (touches and primary key on belongs_to)
  • github competition (http://contest.github.com)
  • railscamp went on sale, woot!
  • ryan allen is not enjoying the army as much as he expected – “crawling over sticks are rocks is not as fun as the movies would suggest”
  • cogent are building a continuous code analysis tool
  • inherited_resources is kinda cool
  • parallel specs saved about 3rd of the runtime for a test group of one
  • envato are hiring
  • cogent are hiring
  • magian are hiring

Next month will be organised by Nick Marfleet of SCT. Stay tuned for details

Hey Ben, When I search for 'ruby on rails melbourne', this site is the top result (nice work!) however, when I come to this site, it is not obvious when and where the melbourne meets are being scheduled (I missed one because of this). It seems to be managed in the google group which I didn't even think to check and the google calendar which I didn't see and also wouldn't sign in for. Maybe you (or one of the organisers) could put a banner or a call-out on this home page stating that 'Melbourne meets are the last thursday of every month at thoughtworks [more info]'. Also, I notice there are 34 people waiting for a meetup.com group of ruby in melbourne. I imagine that creating that group and duplicating the meet details would potentially attract more interested parties.
